Accept the Lord's understanding of perfection. The Lord will know what you believe and attempt.

Change is difficult for most of us, but we must change many times, if needed, to be perfect in the eyes of the Lord. While you cannot reach perfection or perhaps even near perfection, it should still be a goal you seek with all your will and being.

The Lord will know what you believe and attempt, and he will deliver his promises and more. You have no way of knowing all that awaits the promise you keep. His Son, Jesus Christ, sacrificed much for us in keeping his promise to our Father. How can we demonstrate less than our best? Will we stand in comparison to Jesus? No, but your Heavenly Father will see, know, and treasure your every attempt.

Be then complete in righteousness, even as your Father in heaven is complete. (Matthew 5.48 Bible in Basic English (BBE))

Prayer:

Heavenly Father. I was made in your image of perfection, but because of my humanity, perfection is probably unattainable. Perhaps your view of perfection for me is my view of almost perfection. You understand, love, and accept me, and I am grateful. I love the dance of being as good as I can be. I see how happy I am when I give my will to do my best rather than strive to achieve. There is a fundamental difference, and I see that doing my best is the answer, and I promise to give you that every time I can. I will stop seeking perfection and instead seek to please you in any way I can. Amen.
