Day 236 - The Significance of Thomas's Doubt in Believing in Miracles and Faith.

Finding Your Creative Bones® 365-Day Devotional © 2023

I am committed to believing in miracles and faith.

Doubting Thomas, he refused to believe that Jesus visited the disciples in a locked room even though they spoke of the miracle of Jesus's resurrection with sincerity. Can you hear the excitement that must have been in their voices? All of them talking at once? Feeling joy and nervousness, what they heard from Jesus was becoming the truth right before them!

They were and had been witnesses to God on Earth.

In your mind's eye, place yourself in the locked room after Jesus visited them. Imagine the apostles' faces, the tone of their voices, and the confusion that must have exploded around them. Poor Thomas probably didn't know what to think. He wasn't there when Jesus was. See the light in their eyes, the twinkle of seeing lifetimes of hope come to reality. They must have chattered like children, and a hum of something miraculous happening had to exist in the room.

Yet Thomas refused to believe. It was only after Jesus returned to the locked room 8 days later and presented himself to Thomas that Thomas would believe that Jesus had risen and, indeed, was the son of God. He had to see and touch Jesus to accept the truth.

Jesus said to him, Because you have seen me you have belief: a blessing will be on those who have belief though they have not seen me! (John 20.29 Bible in Basic English (BBE))

Prayer:

Jesus, I am not Thomas. I have not seen you as he did, but I know you are my savior and Lord. I believe with all my heart in you and your promises to all humanity who believe. Today, my prayer is simple, and I ask for nothing more than you have already provided. My prayer is a thankful one. I believe. I thank you, and I will follow you all the remaining days of my life and into the hereafter. Believing in miracles and faith are my go-to postures because I am yours forever. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen
