Day 67 - Are You Willing to Risk Eternity?

Finding Your Creative Bones® 365-Day Devotional © 2023

Don't risk eternity. Choose Jesus.

For this cause let the hands which are hanging down be lifted up, and let the feeble knees be made strong, And make straight roads for your feet, so that the feeble may not be turned out of the way, but may be made strong. Let your desire be for peace with all men, and to be made holy, without which no man may see the Lord; Looking with care to see that no man among you in his behaviour comes short of the grace of God; for fear that some bitter root may come up to be a trouble to you, and that some of you may be made unclean by it;(Hebrews 12.12-15 Bible in Basic English (BBE))

Faith, Jesus is our faith leader. He is the perfect example of how we should be. He gave us many examples of his unconditional love, and his faith was demonstrated on the cross. He KNEW we were his and worthy of his gift. It is we who feel unworthy and refuse to accept his gift.

Refusal is to risk eternal jeopardy, to risk eternity. Accept, follow, imitate, and welcome the thought of a beautiful eternity, no matter the difficulties on the journey. You have the choice, but make sure you choose and don't just assume.

Prayer:

Loving Savior, there are no words to express my feelings when I think of your choice for humanity, for me. It is humbling to consider that you and your Father knew I was worth your sacrifice so many years ago. I am part of a lineage chosen for eternity by action or inaction. I decide to act and accept you as my Savior. My rock and my guide to life. Thank you for taking the confusion out of my future. Every day I worry less and know more about where I am headed, and I find this so incredible. This peace is so much better than the feelings I have felt in the past. Part of the reason I feel more decisive is that I care more for others than I have. I want them to know you and experience the love I feel, and avoid the bitter roots in life. For this and so much more, I appreciate and thank you, Jesus. Amen.

I resonate with the words "make sure you choose and don't just assume."

Barb, I am glad this sentence meant something to you. It strikes me also, I am afraid that many assume, and that scares me for them.
