Do you think Jesus wondered if we would let him save us?

But this priest, because his life goes on for ever, is unchanging. So that he is fully able to be the saviour of all who come to God through him, because he is ever living to make prayer to God for them. It was right for us to have such a high priest, one who is holy and without evil, doing no wrong, having no part with sinners, and made higher than the heavens: Who has no need to make offerings for sins every day, like those high priests, first for himself, and then for the people; because he did this once and for ever when he made an offering of himself. (Hebrews 7.24-27 Bible in Basic English (BBE))

Do you think that when Jesus saw how many temptations and sins were available to humans, he questioned what he could do for us? Do you feel he ever believed it was hopeless? Could he have wondered if we would let him save us? Do you suppose he was astounded by our capability to get off track so quickly? It is possible, possibly probable. Yet he sacrificed his human life in a humiliating and painful way for us. He saw past our flaws and found our beauty. He accepted God's instruction and those things that transcended our ability to fail in his mind. What an awe-inspiring thought. Can you learn to follow God that way?

Prayer:

Jesus, son of our Dear Lord, hear my plea. Forgive me for all I've done and failed to do. Through the shedding of Your Holy Blood, you washed me clean, and today, I tell You that I humbly receive Your gift and cry out with joy for my life, here and in eternity. I also ask that you help me follow your example of acting on God's instruction. Help me learn not to pause, to be willing and action-oriented. Bless you, Jesus, for your ability to look beyond our humanity and follow through with your great sacrifice and unending love. I will always be grateful. Amen
