Do you know anyone starving, not for food, but for the word of the Lord?
In Amos in the Old Testament, God speaks these words to Amos.
See, the days are coming, says the Lord God, when I will send times of great need on the land, not need of food or desire for water, but for hearing the words of the Lord.
And they will go wandering from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, running here and there in search of the word of the Lord, and they will not get it. (Amos 8.10-11 Bible in Basic English (BBE))
God talks about a time when people will be starving, not for food, but for the word of the Lord. This was a time in Israel when many were sinners, causing the Lord to be angry. The people seemed lost to God, and they searched for the word and the truth. But could not find it. In many ways, today fits that description. So many are lost, feeling anxious and unsure. Could the time be now, or will there always be those who have not found and embraced God and his truth? They are a multitude searching but not understanding what they seek. Perhaps they don't even know that they are searching for an answer to fill the void within themselves.
Prayer:
Lord, I seek you and your word. I need your truth to make me whole. I also ask that you help all who are lost. Please help them change their ways, find your peace, and fill their emptiness with your word and love. Without you, we are lost. I would be lost. You are my guide, and I am so grateful I found you, your word, and know you now through it. I love you and feel loved by you always. Thank you for being so gracious. I pray in Jesus Christ's name. Amen
