Day 284 - When Receiving Praise, Immediately Give Thanks to God

Finding Your Creative Bones® 365-Day Devotional © 2023

Imitate the Apostles. When you receive praise, immediately give those thanks to God.

Do you seek praise from others to feel good about yourself? It is so easy to fall into this trap. In many ways, we are taught to seek praise from birth. Yet, as a child of God, it is not what we should look or work for. It is a struggle; it feels good to have someone praise us, especially when we have done something we are pleased with. This is something to work on within ourselves.

One thing to consider doing as you receive praise is to immediately give thanks to God for the capability that allowed you to achieve. Share your praises to God with the one who complimented you. Your joy in praising God could be the example they need that results in their walk with the Lord being transformed. You never know what can happen or how the Lord can use a moment. Giving God compliments imitates the actions of the Apostles. They never accepted praise personally; instead, they gave the glory to God. Perhaps you can challenge yourself to follow in their footsteps.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, you are the glory of all things precious. You make all things possible; you make me possible, and I am grateful. You allow me to hear positive things regarding my actions so I do not lose hope, but I know it is through you I achieve these things. You teach me and help me. You guide me with the Holy Spirit and save me through Jesus Christ. I have my beautiful life only through your love, and I am grateful. What else can I do for you, Lord? I am here waiting to meet your needs. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen

Lord, you allow me to hear positive things regarding my actions so I do not lose hope, but I know it is through you I achieve these things. I love giving you credit for my gifts .... out loud to the one who is giving me a compliment.
