Are you an adult believer or a child of God believer?
"Truly I say to you, Whoever does not put himself under the kingdom of God like a little child, will not come into it at all. And he took them in his arms, and gave them a blessing, putting his hands on them. And while he was going out into the way, a man came running to him, and went down on his knees, saying, Good Master, what have I to do so that I may have eternal life? And Jesus said to him, Why do you say I am good? no one is good but one, and that is God." (Mark 10.15-18 Bible in Basic English (BBE))
How many of us can genuinely put a checkmark on each of these actions?
The complete acceptance of God as a child accepts all things
Unfailing faith
Knowing without seeing
Unblemished without sin
Full of never-failing love
Committed without hesitation
Are you thinking that doesn't describe me? That puts you where all of us are. These are a few goals that believers spend their lives trying to achieve. Recognizing that work is still needed is half of the work we must do. The other half is consistently reforming ourselves to become as Christ taught us. We will never achieve perfection. As Jesus said, only God is good. But we must try. By trying, we will obtain a greater sense of being the best humans we can be and the children of God we are called to be.
Prayer:
Father, I am no longer a child, and to experience you as a child encounters you is a challenge. I desperately want to be a child of God believer. Unfortunately, my life has conditioned me to question first. I see now that there is a barrier between us. Perhaps seeing that a wall can exist between us will help me break the disbelief that I have grown. Please help me open my eyes to recognize the enemy's trap of questioning. Questioning fuels a lack of faith and erases my peace.
I want your peace, Lord. The peace that you grant those who believe without seeing. To know without hesitation that you are there. You are here, now, and always. Heal my hesitation and empower me to overcome my doubts. I know you are the truth, always living and right here inside and around me. Lord, the grace you deliver to all who cry out is profound, and I thank you. Amen
