How do you greet others? Are you aware that it affects your relationship with God?
When you go out, how do you greet others? With a broad grin, a shy smile, or with no emotion? Do you greet others as you want God to welcome you? Sometimes, we can be so into ourselves and our own thoughts that we forget that every encounter with someone else is an opportunity to bring ourselves closer to God. You do not know what sorrow, pain, or joy that stranger feels, nor what they need at that moment. No matter, to be friendly and truly happy to see them will potentially change someone's life for at least a moment. It may change your life also. The Lord brings us to people and people to us for reasons we may never know. We have a choice to accept them or walk away missing divine opportunities.
Prayer:
Lord, I aim to slow down and meet everyone as if I am greeting you. Help me use these opportunities to offer healing and love to others and myself through genuine kindness and respect. I can change so much of myself with you to make what matters most about being human better through learning, loving, and honoring you. You are precious, Lord, and so is everyone I will ever meet. Please remind me to be aware, present, concerned, and helpful to everyone I contact.
I look forward to the blessings of these encounters and trust they will happen throughout my life, resulting in an authentic and meaningful bounty of joy from imitating your beautiful son. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen
