Day 197 - When Persistence and Patience Become Virtuous

Finding Your Creative Bones® 365-Day Devotional © 2023

Father, through your love, persistence, and patience, become virtuous.

In the day of my trouble, my heart was turned to the Lord: my hand was stretched out in the night without resting; my soul would not be comforted.
I will keep God in memory, with sounds of grief; my thoughts are troubled, and my spirit is overcome. (Selah.) (Psalms 77.2-3 Bible in Basic English (BBE))

Are there times you desire God, but it feels like he doesn't see you? You are not alone. These are the times when persistence and patience become virtuous. You know God is there, but the timing isn't right, not yet anyway.

Three in one, God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost to some. Each is unique to you, yet only one. The mystery is unveiled in Christ's birth. God joined humanity on earth to show his face to all he met and for the memory of all people for eternity. Was it scary for Jesus to live on earth as a child, boy, and man? To feel what you feel: hunger, sadness, happiness, concern, and so many other emotions. No doubt it was.

God gave you so many gifts with Jesus. Your salvation, but also a memory of his humanity that can truly comfort you during difficult times where you feel there is no comfort. You have only to think of Jesus and the real struggle he faced here on earth. From that, you can learn and grow the strength to persevere until the challenge passes.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I sometimes feel lost and alone and cannot find you. Please use the Holy Spirit to inspire me with thoughts of Jesus when this occurs. Connect me to Jesus so my mind is filled with remembering your gift and my purpose for you. When I remember, please prompt me with thoughts to act on that will make the world a better place for us to live. I understand your gift to us, to me, with Jesus. Help me now pay it forward to others. Amen.
