Do you prepare for the Lord by focusing on your heart and mind?
For which cause we do not give way to weariness; but though our outer man is getting feebler, our inner man is made new day by day. For our present trouble, which is only for a short time, is working out for us a much greater weight of glory; While our minds are not on the things which are seen, but on the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are for a time; but the things which are not seen are eternal. (2 Corinthians 4.16-18 Bible in Basic English (BBE))
Paul talks of the outer self as less important than the inner self. What about your inner self? Do you prepare for the Lord by focusing on your heart and mind? Do you spend your time focused on the outer self and the beauty you see in the mirror?
Beauty indeed matters to humankind, but your inner spiritual self is what the Lord seeks to know you are his. He is constantly concerned with your inner beauty and how you use it. He knows no matter how you look on the outside. You are beautiful. How could you be otherwise? He created you in his image.
Where do you focus your time? What is your priority? Are you happy with your priorities? Consider again, do you prepare for the Lord by focusing on your heart and mind?
So we are the representatives of Christ, as if God was making a request to you through us: we make our request to you, in the name of Christ, be at peace with God. (2 Corinthians 5.21 Bible in Basic English (BBE))
Prayer:
Giver of all that matters, What do you want of me? I seek that knowledge and understanding. I sometimes fall into vanity, but as I grow older, this becomes less important, and I am influenced by others less and less. This pleases me as it allows me to focus more easily on things that matter. Please continuously point me to what is essential in your eyes so I can focus on those areas. I am a representative of Jesus Christ, and I know that you, Lord, are making requests through me. I make my request to you in the name of your precious Son, Jesus Christ. You, Lord, are my peace. Amen.

Dear God, please, continuously point me to what is essential in YOUR eyes so I can focus on those areas.
Thanks for the prayer.
Only one thing matters. That is what our lord wants for us. What others think of us doesn’t matter.
Caring less and less about what other's think of us is one of the great advantages of aging. Great post, thank you.
