Day 185 - The Lord is the Wine for Your Cup and Your Supporter

Finding Your Creative Bones® 365-Day Devotional © 2023

The Lord is the wine for your cup and your supporter. He supports you in all you do.

David talks of how he kept the Lord first and that he was devoted to the Lord.

The Lord is my heritage and the wine of my cup; you are the supporter of my right.
Fair are the places marked out for me; I have a noble heritage.
I will give praise to the Lord who has been my guide; knowledge comes to me from my thoughts in the night. I have put the Lord before me at all times; because he is at my right hand, I will not be moved.
Because of this my heart is glad, and my glory is full of joy: while my flesh takes its rest in hope.
For you will not let my soul be prisoned in the underworld; you will not let your loved one see the place of death.
You will make clear to me the way of life; where you are joy is complete; in your right hand there are pleasures for ever and ever. (Psalms 16.5-11 Bible in Basic English (BBE))

The Lord is the wine for your cup and your supporter. Your supporter, think of all that means. He supports you when you struggle, cheering you on at every step. When you feel low, everyone does, at some point, picture in your mind that the Lord is crouched next to you, stroking his beard, asking you about your concerns. Look deeply into his eyes and see his love for you reflected in them. Then, answer truthfully, explaining why you are concerned with God at your side. Take a deep breath. Are you still concerned? If so, ask God in your prayers to give you peace and understanding so that this will pass.

Prayer:

Glorious Father, grant me the peace of knowing you are my Lord. That there is nothing we cannot do together. No hurdle cannot be accomplished. You are like gold in the sunlight, sparkling and wondrous in your brilliance. Nothing compares to you and your power. Shine within me for all to see your love and care. Create within me a heart of service and a mind of praise, for there are no words to explain your glory adequately. Thank you for the richness of my life. I am grateful. Amen.
